Nuclear tube types

Our portfolio includes steam generator tubing (SGT), nuclear fuel tubes (cladding tubes in zirconium) and nuclear tubes and pipes – all developed in close collaboration with leading industry players.

Steam generator tubes (SGT) – Convert water to steam in turbine-driven power generation. Since 1968, Alleima has supplied high-pressure, high-temperature tube with low nickel release, most recently for Generation III+ reactors and water-cooled small modular reactors (SMRs). These tubes meet the most stringent Eddy Current requirements, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 15:1 or higher.

Nuclear fuel tubes (cladding tubes) – Encapsulate nuclear fuel at the core of the reactor. Alleima has a long eperience in supplying cladding tubes since 1966 for light-water reactors and, more recently, watercooled SMRs.

At Alleima, our value chain is built on R&D, metallurgy expertise and decades of nuclear experience – combined with the ability to tailor tube coolant solutions to your specific needs. Quality control starts at the melt stage with a material content analysis and continues through every stage of production, including extrusion, pilgering, inspection, testing, marking, and full documentation.

Nuclear tubes for every reactor generation

Generation III Technology
Proven solutions for pressurized water reactor (PWR) light-water designs. Sanicro® 69 (Alloy 690) and Sanicro® 30 (Alloy 800) are optimized for low nickel release and long-term performance. We also supply SGT, NT&P tubing, and cladded fuel tubes.

Generation III+ Technology
Building on Gen III, Generation III+ reactors incorporate passive safety systems, longer fuel cycles, and higher efficiency. Our tubing solutions are engineered to meet these advanced requirements, ensuring reliability under extended operating conditions.

Generation IV Technology
We collaborate closely with customers on advanced reactors, developing alloys and tubing solutions for Generation IV systems using cooling media such as helium, lead, sodium, sodium heat pipe and molten salts. Our expertise in corrosion challenges covers advanced reactors techniques, composite tubes and development-phase analysis. With proven high-temperature – such as molten salts – we support the development of safer, more efficient reactors.

Small Modular Reactors (SMR)
As a manufacturer of nuclear-approved and advanced corrosion-resistant alloys, Alleima applies its materials expertise directly to SMRs – compact, modular pressurized water reactors designed for flexible deployment. Whether on-grid, off-grid, or marine-based, SMRs present similar material and corrosion challenges as full-scale PWRs. By partnering with both established developers and new entrants, we provide the alloys and tubing solutions needed to ensure safe, efficient operation.
